Purpose/History

Organized in 1982, FOCUS promotes a sharing of information between member institutions of higher education within the state of Virginia to improve fiscal management for all members and establishes dialog with central State agencies to inform them of the organization's position or concern on financial management issues.

FOCUS brings together the controller, bursar/treasurer, and information specialists from state-supported institutions of higher education in Virginia. Budget, internal audit, purchasing, and human resources staffs are generally not included in FOCUS membership. Each member institution has a primary representative. The organization adopted its constitution and bylaws in 1982.
